http://www.filmlight.ltd.uk/products/editions/range_ed/index_ed.php#BaselightAvid 14 day trial available on the site immediately. For those that have used the Baselight for FCP7 plugin this is the next level! GPU rendering, work across multiple shots, loads more shortcuts, BLG and TrueLight support to name just a few features - Currently Mac only but rumors are a Windows version is in the works. It would be great to hear peoples thoughts on the software as well as thoughts with regards to 'metadata grading'.
I'm doing a bit of aaf/mxf round tripping between my bl and mc6 at the moment. I will be testing this out once I get a chance, I'm not particularly interested in grading in Avid, but I'll try and give you an idea on how it deals with the above workflow. Might have to wait a week of so as I'm snowed under at the moment. Justin.
Hi Justin, The currently shipping version of full Baselight doesn't support round-tripping with the plugin. We'll be shipping a version which does soon after IBC. However, I've been doing a lot of testing and I can say (in my opinion) it works pretty well. I've taken a number of real customer jobs which use our current rendering-based round tripping workflow and have managed to export their entire grade into the Avid. From there, I've rendered the grades in Avid and in BL and the results are pretty much the same. So, I think a workflow where a colourist exports grade metadata back to the Avid for titling and the final render is completely possible. The rendering performance in Avid is pretty good - for example I rendered a 25 min show in 22min on a Mac Pro with Quadro 4000 GPU. -Martin
Hi Jack, A Windows version is well underway. We're aiming for Q4 2012. If anyone is interested in being on the list for the Windows beta, DM me and I'll you to the list. -Martin
DS supports AVX2 plugins, so it should work. That being said, I'm pretty sure that certain parts of the AVX2 API are missing/don't work as well in DS, so it remains to be seen how slick we can make it. We'll do our best.
Hello Martin, can you please include me on the list ? We are running Avid/Nitris on an Z800 HP with a Quadro4000.
Thanks to Alain Jouan from Filmlight to point me here http://lnkd.in/t_8zV2. Demo of Avid Baselight by Martin Tlaskal at SuperMeet. For those who were not there. Incredible how you Martin have done a great job since the FCP7 version i saw at home !
