Bluray signal into grading monitor

Pat Wintersgill Jan 10, 2017

  1. Hi folks,

I'm trying to get my Bluray player to play nice with my Flanders Scientific CM250. The player outputs HDMI, and the Flanders takes only HD-SDI. Going through a converter like Blackmagic's Ultrastudio doesn't work, because most Bluray players can detect external hardware and they stop the signal from going out as an anti-piracy measure.

I've read that going via an HDMI splitter can confuse the player enough to get around this, so I bought a cheap one and tried it out, unfortunately to no avail. I'm a bit reluctant to keep buying different bits of hardware until something works. Has anyone faced this situation and overcome it?

    Thanks for any advice!

  3. Thanks guys. The HDMI splitter doesn't ship to my country, so I'll try the DVI adaptor and send my audio signal a different route. Thanks for your advice!

  4. I used composite output into the Flanders for that.
