Media Offline While Scrubbing After Generating Optimized Media – How to Fix?

Hi,

I am experiencing an issue in DaVinci Resolve Studio when generating optimized media.

After generating optimized media, some clips briefly display "Media Offline" on certain frames while scrubbing through the timeline.
The issue occurs only on specific frames within the affected clips.

I have already deleted the optimized media and generated it again, but the same problem still occurs.

A screen recording demonstrating the problem is available here:

Could you please help me determine what might be causing this issue and how I can resolve it?
Thank you for your support.

System Specs and Software Versions:

  • Computer: MacBook Air (Apple M4)
  • CPU: Apple M4 (10-core CPU: 4 performance cores, 6 efficiency cores)
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Operating System: macOS Sequoia 15.7.3 (24G419)
  • Software: DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.0.2 (Build 4)

Seeing Media Offline only during scrubbing usually points to a storage IOPS bottleneck. When you scrub, Resolve is making hundreds of tiny random read requests. If your optimized media is on a drive that is nearing capacity or doesn't have the random access speed like a SATA SSD or a spinning RAId, it simply can’t serve the frames fast enough. So checking your capacity is a good first step. if you are over 80% clean some things up and try again.
